LIBRARY

The TIS library works with the school's mission to give every student a place where they can improve their academics, creativity, and service by being able to find, evaluate, and use quality resources in a responsible way.We encourage students to get more out of their education by reading one of the many books in the TIS library. The library was made with your child in mind, it’s a place where kids can learn to love reading and learning for life.

ART

At TIS, the arts have always been a big part of the curriculum. Participating in the arts helps a person grow into a well-rounded person. Our Art program gives students the chance to develop their creativity and follow their passions while also building their confidence and maturity in preparation for higher education and a fuller, richer life. In the artistic process, there are four standards: creating, which means coming up with and developing new artistic ideas and work; presenting, which means interpreting and sharing artistic work; responding, which means understanding and judging how art conveys meaning; and connecting, which means making connections between artistic ideas and work and their personal and external contexts.Art education is a key part of learning in the 21st century because of how these standards build creativity, collaboration, confidence, cultural awareness, empathy, and critical thinking.

SPORTS

We think it's important for kids to have a healthy balance. Children who participate in sports get the physical activity they need to grow and learn, and they also learn important lessons about teamwork, perseverance, taking risks, ethics, and good sportsmanship. The cultivation of self-assurance, tolerance, and an appreciation of one's own and others' strengths and weaknesses, as well as the acquisition of the skills necessary to deal with one's own success and failure in both competitive and cooperative physical activities, are thought to be essential components of the educational process.Students who participate in athletics and other physical activities get many benefits, including improved physical fitness and well-being, as well as lessons in sportsmanship, collaboration, and dedication to one's team. Additionally, it is a wonderful opportunity to make friendship with other students, to have fun, and to become involved in the life of the school community. Achieving mastery in a sport not only boosts a learner's confidence in the aforementioned domains but also carries over into other aspects of their lives.

Camping

During this part of their education, TIS students are strongly encouraged to explore the world beyond the confines of the school, away from their textbooks and other forms of electronic media. Throughout their stay at TIS, students are presented with a variety of opportunities to put the knowledge and abilities they have gained in classroom settings to use in authentic settings. They are forced out of their normal habits and out of their comfort zones in order to widen their understanding of the outside world, which is an essential component of becoming global citizens. Field trips typically include some sort of community service component, which supports and reinforces the values that our school upholds regarding concern for the wellbeing of others. Students develop their sense of self-reliance while also learning to accept responsibility for themselves and others in their environment.

House Point System

All of the students participating in the House System are working toward building the required abilities for independence, leadership, and teamwork in preparation for their future roles as leaders. They exhibit initiative and self-motivation in order to shape the system into one that recognizes and rewards continued engagement, dedication, and persistence. Students run the House System, which consists of inspiring house captains and a house leadership team that further develops imaginative inter-house and whole-school competitions and activities. These are organized by the students themselves. These leadership teams function as mentors for students and collect feedback from the entire student body. They then use this information to routinely evaluate and improve the positive impact that the house system has. It is possible for house captains to direct members' participation in competitions or the selection of house charities to support. In addition, house captains are responsible for directing members of all year groups toward gaining house points for, among other things, appropriate behavior, academic work, and participation in school activities. These points ultimately determine which house is awarded the coveted house trophy at the end of each term.

EAL (English as Additional Language)

When a kid enrolls at Tara's International School, all of their classes will be conducted in English, and the school requires that all students have a level of English proficiency that is at least passable. However, we do provide assistance to students whose native language is something other than English if that is the language that they are learning. In the Primary level, the parents of children who require this assistance will be consulted; nevertheless, if the school determines that a kid requires this additional assistance, then it will be required of that child. This requirement is constantly evaluated, and it is possible that it will be lowered during the course of the school year. Support for students who are learning English as an additional language (EAL) is available to them in the secondary level as well, and it continues until the students are able to function independently in the mainstream classes. Whenever it is deemed required, either individual or small group tutoring is made available, most frequently on a withdrawal basis but also in the form of in-class help.

Music & Movement

We're excited to introduce you to the School Dance Club, a group of energetic students who share a passion for dance and self-expression. Our club's mission is to encourage creativity, boost confidence, and provide a welcoming and inclusive space for students to explore different dance styles. As part of our school community, we strive to promote the joy of dance and help everyone discover their inner dancer with the guidance of our talented instructors. So students can join and have fun dancing with friends!
